Must Have Pet Accessories for Your Companion

So you just bought that adorable designer dog you have been wanting for a companion. Now you need to get the right accessories for your new pet so the two of you can hit the town in style.

If your new pet is one of the smaller toy breeds you should consider a pet carrier for your trips out of the home. Smaller dogs have a hard time keeping up when on a leash and you want your hands free for other things. There are some great dog carriers on the market with some fun designs ranging from small purse styles to slightly larger camouflage patterned bags and so many more at various pet boutiques.

Another fun option for your excursions out are pet strollers for your dog or cat. These strollers are a way to wheel your best friend around on errands safely and conveniently. Most pet strollers are enclosed with canvas and mesh to protect your best friend while providing plenty of fresh air. The strollers also have a basket below for carrying your purchases home, hopefully you haven’t forgotten the gourmet pet treats!

Defining family – Part 3

Family is not defined as blood relative anymore. Family could include friends, boy- or girlfriends families, and childhood or long-time friends. Many times I have heard people state “Blood is thicker than water” and “You can pick your friends but not your family.” Blood is not always thicker than water and you can pick your family, as originally defined. I have very few friends; including my sister, a cousin, and my boyfriend. Sure, my boyfriend and I are not blood however his family treats me the same way my family treats me. My best friend of 17 years is like my older sister. My cousin and I speak at least once a week and we talk about everything and keep it between us. My sister and I do not see each other much anymore since she is married and has moved out, but, she is still my best friend.

The way a family should be defined is a person or persons who can be trusted, cares about you unconditionally, will always tell you the truth no matter how much it hurts, even if you do not speak for a period of time it seems as though no time has passed when (more…)

There is no need to be overwhelmed, begin by picking up a couple of pamphlets at your Veterinary office, or at your pet store. Once you have these, here’s how to compare pet insurance policies.

Any pet insurance policy should take into account your lifestyle, budget, and your pet’s health. While many people buy pet insurance for unforeseeable events such as accidents and serious illness, other’s buy them to cover basics like annual needle’s and preventative measures such as heartworm and parasite testing. Before even looking at the different pet plan’s make a list of what you need for your pet, then try and match them with a couple of different insurers to get the best monthly price.

Family and what it means – Part 1

Family and what it means

Family starts with a nuclear unit and extends outwards to siblings and relatives. Family is basically the foundation of a country whereby the members of the family contributes to society. It is important for the family to be a stable unit for a country to prosper.

Now that we understand how much important a family is to the family members and to their country, it is only right that we grow in a family. Family is being there for the family members and the point to start is from the time there is an addition to the family.

Acronym for family is Father Mother I Love You. I cannot emphasize enough that the relationship between a couple determines how strong the family unit. When the relationship is strong, there is an ongoing nurturing of each other and this act of nurturing flows down from the couple to the family members and extends outwards to siblings of the couples and their family members.

Extended family members play a very important role in supporting and encouraging a family unit. They are there for the family should the family be celebrating or grieving. This is (more…)

Is it okay to exclude people from a family reunion? – Part 1

The Family Reunion Guest List

What is a family reunion, if certain family members are excluded?

Every family is different, of course. Any family, particularly a larger clan, may have its own curious characters. Perhaps a relative’s conduct may be questionable. Another may require special accommodations for physical or emotional reasons. Still another may have troubling habits, or even a criminal record. Must every family member be included in a family reunion?

Is it acceptable to invite certain relatives to a family reunion, but to exclude others?

Still, a family reunion may not be complete without complete participation.

Our Own Family Reunions

Our clan holds a family reunion every three years. No one misses. We purposely pick the most central spot possible, and the family reunion planning team keeps the accommodation costs as affordable as possible. We have even rented a pack of pop-up campers to gather in a circular driveway at a family member’s woodsy cottage.

For various reasons, our own extended family reunions have occasionally included special dietary accommodations, wheelchair ramps, medical assistants and even court-ordered probationary check-ins.

Still, everyone has been invited. And everyone has attended every time. Mountains of family portraits don’t lie.
